Summing Up

We are now at a point in time when Arthurian legend is the subject of historical investigation, of assured box-office returns and of the rite of inheritance. Monarchs, historians, poets and artists have added to interpretations of Arthur, and numerous attempts have been made to erase him from legitimate existence. Arthur and his court have been revered, mocked, imitated and celebrated. One thing that can be said for certain is that the Legend of Arthur will be around forever as he represents integrity, honour and loyalty for the individual and a people. The ever changing nature of his world has allowed historians and leaders to explore, create and affect codes of practice for their people. This can be seen to have been a very useful way to exercise control, but despite all attempts the quest or need for a belief in honour and truth has not ultimately been erased. In recent years we have seen Arthur and his court replicated time and again in celluloid, the most obvious being 'Star Wars' complete with Jedi Knights, and more recently in Agent Fox Mulder in the 'X-files' as he searches for the Truth. Those of you in search of your own answers we wish you the best of luck as you search for your own Grail/Answers.
